DC Condo Asks Tenants to Snitch on Neighbors If They're Smoking Pot: Report
What exactly does legalized marijuana mean in the nation's capital?

Washington, DC — A DC condo in Chevy Chase is telling its tenants that they can’t smoke pot in their homes and that they need to tell them if their neighbors are smoking weed, according to a report by Washingtonian magazine.
Renters found out about the prohibition by Kossow Management when the company slipped notices under their doors at the building, La Reine, the magazine reports.
Real-estate attorney Aaron Sokolow tells Washingtonian that the pot clause is the same as prohibiting the consumption of broccoli. A lease points to federal law as the basis for the prohibition and claims that violations “may result in enforcement by government authorities,” Washingtonian reported.

A new DC pot law 101 by The Washington Post published earlier this year notes that you should check your lease to see if it’s OK to smoke pot. The Post noted that the new law means that if you own your home, it’s OK to puff away, as long as you’re not sitting out on your front lawn.
