DC Cold Emergency Plan Activated Due to Cold Temperatures

WASHINGTON, DC -- The District of Columbia government has activated its Hypothermia Alert Sunday night due to extremely cold temperatures moving into the area.

Here’s a look at the cold temps--wind chill will take them down into the single digits:

• Tonight: Scattered flurries between 9pm and 3am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. Blustery, with a west wind 7 to 12 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.
• M.L.King Day: Sunny, with a high near 26. Blustery, with a northwest wind 17 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
• Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 13. Wind chill values as low as -2. Northwest wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
• Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 25. Wind chill values as low as -3. Northwest wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
• Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 18. Northwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
