DC Rabbi Pleads Guilty to 52 Counts of Voyeurism: Report

Georgetown rabbi Barry Fruendel is accused of secretly videotaping dozens of nude women.

Georgetown rabbi Barry Freundel pled guilty Thursday to 52 counts of voyeurism, WTOP reports.

Freundel was expected to enter his guilty plea Thursday in D.C. Superior Court, The Washington Post reported.

Freundel is accused of secretly videotaping dozens of women as they disrobed at a sacred bath at the Georgetown synagogue where he was employed. He was fired after he was charged last fall. Freundel had led Kesher Israel, located at 2801 N St., since 1989.

Freundel, 63, was arrested in October on charges that he videotaped six women, using a hidden camera in a clock radio, while he was at Kesher Israel Congregation in Georgetown. Since the charges came out, other women came forward and have been working with police who confiscated images from Freundel.

There are reports that the rabbi may have videotaped even more women, up to 150 in all.
