DC Toddler, Dalis Cox, Dead After Shooting Wednesday Night
Police say shooting "may have been the result of another child having found and been playing with a firearm that discharged."

A toddler has died following a shooting that police are saying ”may have been the result of another child having found and been playing with a firearm that discharged,” police said.
Police identified the 3 year old who died as Dalis Cox of Southeast Washington, D.C.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are conducting a death investigation following the shooting of Dalis in the 600 block of 46th Place, Southeast, on Wednesday night at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Last night, officers from the Sixth District responded to a shooting call that occurred inside of a residence. When they arrived, they located a toddler suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. The toddler was transported to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The decedent has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Maryland, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death, police said.
