DIY Attempt #2: Gratitude Chalkboard

When I went to a friend’s house for play group, I saw she has a board with a list of things each of her children is thankful for. I fell in love with this idea- teaching your kids to be grateful and appreciate the things they have. We have so much! Maybe not riches, but more important things. And, in my opinion, with a sense of gratitude comes a greater respect and perspective on what matters. So…I decided to knock two birds with one stone by making a gratitude board, but making it a chalkboard. I headed to Lowe’s and bought myself a 3x3 ft wooden board, chalkboard spray paint, and hooks. I then took the chalkboard to Michael’s and got one of their cheapest, uncolored frames for $55 and spray painted it white. Now, once a week or so, we will ask the boys what they are thankful for. Butter Cheeks it still too young to understand, but I’m sowing the seeds.

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings” – William Arthur Ward
