Dog Tag Bakery's Apple Pies Benefit Military Families in March

The Georgetown Bakery is Partnering with Blue Star Families During the Month of March

March, apple pies, and military families go hand-in-hand this month, thanks to Dog Tag Bakery’s special promotion. Beginning March 1st, all proceeds from apple pie sales at the DC bakery will benefit Blue Star Families (BSF), a national nonprofit network offering innovative programs to strengthen military families and connect communities.

In celebration of Blue Star Families’ five-year anniversary, Dog Tag Bakery is offering a limited edition apple pie and donating all proceeds to Blue Star Families, a national nonprofit network that offers innovative programs to strengthen military families and connect communities. Dog Tag Bakery’s apple pies will be available through the month of March, located at 3206 Grace Street NW.Dog Tag’s limited edition Blue Star pies are baked with Granny Smith apples, lightly sweetened, scented with cinnamon, and surrounded by a flakey piecrust. The personal sized four-inch pies will be sold online and in-store for $6.95 each throughout the month of March. Just look for the signature star cutout on the crust.

Dog Tag Bakery co-founder Constance Milstein said, “Dog Tag Bakery is proud to partner with Blue Star Families to strengthen veteran communities. Together, we can continue to support veterans in their transition to civilian life. We know that so many of us want to help our soldiers, veterans and their families and this is a deliciously simple way to support them. We love to ‘bake a difference’ and what could be more American than apple pie?”

About Dog Tag Bakery

Dog Tag Bakery is a work-study program for veterans with disabilities and their spouses seeking to begin civilian careers here at home. As part of the program, veterans receive formal classroom training, storefront and practical experience, and support as they graduate and move on to the next chapter in their civilian lives. The first class of fellows, which began studies in June 2014, recently completed the program and was awarded certificates in business administration from Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies. With responsibilities ranging from baking to operations to marketing, the program is designed to help the veterans acquire practical business skills. The bakery’s proceeds are reinvested into the program so that more veterans with disabilities can pursue their dreams of building civilian careers.
