The legendary Son House (1902-1988) was known to say “Blues is a feelin’”. Eli Cook’s music expresses that same raw honesty in a unique blend of contemporary and old-school styles, creating an original sound at the fore-front of modern Blues and Rock.
Ranked #21 on The Alternate Root's list of top roots music guitar players, Colin Thompson was washed in the blood of American music from the time he could crawl. The 22 year old son of acclaimed Americana music artist Randy Thompson has toured Europe numerous times, received raving national and international reviews. His playing has been heard on satellite and terrestrial radio all over the US, Europe, and Australia. Already a seasoned performer at his young age, he has developed a playing style that is his own. Often compared by the press to other great slide guitar players (Sonny Landreth, Duane Allman, Derek Trucks, Lowell George), his playing is a fresh and unique combination of all his influences mixed with is own unique spin. At age 14 and again at age 15 he won the Mid - Atlantic States Guitar Center's King Of The Blues competition.
A year later formed The Colin Thompson Band with fellow Virginians Mike Calve on bass, and Stephen Lieske on drums. The band has been turning in live performances and inspiring reviews that are building a critical buzz and an unstoppable momentum. He has been reviewed by the Associated Press and No Depression magazine describing his guitar style as, "Inventive" and "Vibrant".
