Enjoy Pet-Friendly Washington, DC

I love living in Washington, DC. It’s one of the most pet-friendly places in the nation. We’ve got a huge variety of dog parks, pet-friendly attractions, pet-friendly shops, and even pet-friendly restaurants to choose from.

Of course, DC is also huge. It’s possible to live here for a very long time without seeing everything.  That’s why I thought I’d provide some guidance on exactly where you can go to find all of those pet-friendly locations!

Even a casual Google search will reveal tons of great dog parks in the DC area. Rover.com has chosen out 10 “best bets.” You might start there, but you don’t have to take their word for it. There are many more to choose from, so look around to find out what you and your dog like best.

Dog-friendly Attractions

Did you know that dogs are welcome at many major, iconic DC attractions? Here’s a short list of places for you and your dog to go together.

·         The National Mall

·         Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens

·         Lincoln Memorial

Even if you’ve already seen each of these your out-of-town relatives and friends might enjoy knowing that they can bring their dogs along, too.

Dog-friendly Stores

There are even a small handful of dog-friendly stores in the DC area. Check out Home Rule, a kitchen store, or LUSH Handmade cosmetics, a beauty store.

Dog-friendly Restaurants

This may prove to be the biggest shock of all, but there are nearly 100 dog-friendly restaurants in the metro DC area. From The Dairy Godmother to Argonaut Tavern, there’s something for just about everyone. Some of these restaurants even have treats just for pooches, like The Dairy Godmother’s “Puppy Pop.” Bringfido.com has produced a full list of places to try.

When you can’t bring your dog…

There may still be a few places in the DC area that aren’t so dog friendly—like your office! But Pet Peeps is part of dog-friendly DC too. We’re there to care for your dog (or cat!) when you’re out so that you can continue to enjoy every aspect of your urban lifestyle.
