Last chance to see the 5th Annual DC Design House spaces BEFORE the 23 designers begin transforming the rooms. In 37 days, the spaces will be stunning, reflective of the top DC design talent in the DC area.

ABOUT THIS YEAR'S HOUSE: The Spring Valley house, owned by the Gladys Aguirre Revocable Trust, Francisco Aguirre Marital Trust and Francisco Aguirre Family Trust, was built in 1956 by W.C. & A.N. Miller for Dr. Francisco and Gladys Aguirre, who raised six children in the home. The late Dr. Aguirre was an international consultant as well as a founder of the Diairo Las Americas newspaper, still run by the family in Miami. Mrs. Aguirre, 90, lives in Washington, DC. Over the years, the Aguirres entertained prominent Latin American political and business figures including heads of state from Nicaragua, Argentina, Costa Rica, Panama, Bolivia and others in the 10,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom, seven-bath estate. The home became known as the Blue House for the family’s 40-plus year tradition of adorning the exterior in thousands of blue lights during the holiday season.
