"New Prints by Jake Muirhead" Opening Reception

The Old Print Gallery is presenting a new solo show of prints by local printmaker Jake Muirhead. New Prints by Jake Muirhead will open on November 11, 2011 with a nighttime opening reception from 5-8pm at The Old Print Gallery. The show consists of over twenty etchings, aquatints, and drypoints, consisting of mostly still lifes, imagined landscapes, and figurative work. Muirhead’s prints exude a rare intensity and liveliness, which can be attributed to his working and reworking of his intaglio plates.

The opening reception gives viewers a special first-look at Muirhead's new collection. Jake Muirhead will be there to discuss his inspiration behind his work, as well as answer questions about his artistic process. Free wine and light refershments will be served.

Muirhead earned his MFA in Printmaking from George Mason University, is a Associate Printmaker at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in MD, and teaches drawing at Montgomery College. He is also a founding member of the print group Atelier Four. He has exhibited in Spain, China, and New Zealand, as well as more local shows in Washington DC, Maryland, New York, and Connecticut.
