World Heart Day

In anticipation of World Heart Day on September 26, 2010; the American College of Cardiology will be holding a special day of events on September 21, 2010 to raise awareness through this year's theme of "workplace wellness".  This is the tenth anniversary of World Heart Day and the ACC is participating to promote heart healthy messages such as encouraging a healthy workplace with a balanced diet, physical activity and a smoke-free environment.

In the spirit of friendly competition, the ACC is challenging your company to make an effort to live a healthier work life.  This can mean a variety of things; from asking staff to take the stairs, to posting heart healthy tips in the cafeteria area.  The ACC educates its staff by hosting health and wellness fairs throughout the year, offering exercise classes and information sessions about workplace wellness.  We are also challenging employees to walk, run, or metro to work.

On September 21, the ACC will host events for businesses in the community that would like to participate.  We will have an exercise fitness expert on site to answer any questions, a complimentary boot camp class.
