Events In Georgetown This Week: Barleywine Festival, Carnevale Celebration And More

There's something fun happening every night this week in Georgetown.

GEORGETOWN, DC — Can't wait until the weekend starts? Lucky for you, there are a ton of events going on this week in Georgetown. Start with Pizzeria Paradiso's Presidential Barleywine Festival, celebrate Washington's birthday at Tudor Place Historic House & Garden and listen to Kim Waters perform at Blues Alley Jazz for a fun filled week.

Tuesday

Don’t miss this opportunity for an intimate experience with artifacts from the National Museum of the United States Navy. The collections team will present exciting objects seldom seen by the public including local documentation of the African American experience in the early 1800's. Join in the fun to hear these stories and to see the artifacts like you would if you were inside of an exhibit case, up close and personal at the National Museum of the United States Navy Tuesday.

Head over to Pizzeria Paradiso for their Presidential Barleywine Festival Tuesday-Thursday this week. Each of its three locations has a different drink list; at their Georgetown location they're pouring Uinta Anniversary Barleywine 2015, JW Lees Harvest Ale 2015, Bells Wheat Love 2013, Ballast Point Three Sheets 2015 and JW Lees Harvest Ale. A sampler of all five is $22.

Via Umbria is hosting a Venice Carnevale Celebration, featuring all-you-can-eat Carnevale foods and special Carnevale cocktails. Join in for food, fun and masquerade, and cut loose as we count down the days toward Lent. Admission includes two drink tickets and all you can eat buffet items. Additional drinks and food will be available for sale in the cafe.

If a Carnevale Celebration isn't for you, celebrate Washington’s birthday with an elegant evening tour at the home his step-granddaughter built. The Peter family inherited, purchased, and carefully curated George and Martha Washington artifacts—now one of the largest collections of Washington objects. See furniture, art, and personal objects, including several not normally on view and enjoy light refreshments from 6-7:30 p.m. at Tudor Place Historic House & Garden.

Thursday

Kicking off the 2017 bourbon and beer dinner series, Pitmaster Melanie has paired up with New Belgium Brewing to put together an amazing beer dinner. The dinner will start off with a social half hour, then feature a four course dinner, each paired with a different beer. Tickets are now on sale for an all-inclusive price of $50 per person.

Or, check out Kim Waters perform at Blues Alley Jazz from 8 p.m. to midnight. Waters has enjoyed a career longevity that is rare in the music business. For close to two decades the saxophonist, composer and producer has been one of the premier architects of Urban Smooth Jazz and a beacon of light in contemporary jazz. He has garnered praise from critics and fans alike, amassing record sales of over a million albums and ranks among the top five best-selling instrumentalists in jazz.
