FBI: Armed Robber -- on Oxygen -- Holds Up DC Bank

Suspect reportedly held up the bank while lugging his oxygen tank in a bag, according to the FBI.

The FBI says a gun-toting bank robber suspect — wearing an oxygen tube under his nose —held up a Washington, D.C. bank Tuesday morning.

The robbery went down at approximately 11:50 a.m., when a man walked in and, according to the FBI, robbed the Wells Fargo Bank at 5701 Connecticut Avenue NW in Washington, D.C.

The individual entered the bank, approached the teller, displayed a handgun and demanded money, according to the FBI. After the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the bank.

Here’s a description of the suspect, from the FBI:

  • Height: 5’8” to 5’11”
  • Weight: 260 to 280 pounds
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Black
  • Race: Black
  • Age: 40 to 50 years old

The suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a black baseball hat, black shirt and dark pants. He was wearing an oxygen tube under his nose and connected to a bag he was carrying with him. The suspect has black facial hair, including a mustache and goatee.

The suspect is not the first to allegedly rob a bank on oxygen. The FBI was looking for a man in Colorado last year who was on oxygen or appeared to be while robbing three banks.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of this bank robber.
