FBI Searching for Suspects in 2 DC Bank Robberies

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information about the suspects in either robbery.

The FBI is on the lookout for suspects in two bank robberies that took place Monday and Friday in the District.

On Monday morning, at approximately 9:55 a.m., a man robbed the SunTrust bank at 5000 Connecticut Avenue, N.W. in Washington, DC., the FBI said. The man entered the bank, approached the victim teller, and demanded money. The subject then left the bank and fled the area on foot.

The suspect was described as a black male with a dark complexion, a medium build and approximately 5’7” to 5’9” tall. He had short cropped hair. He was described as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white zipper, blue jeans, and an earring in his left ear, according to the FBI.

Friday bank robbery

On Friday morning, at approximately 11:55 a.m., a man attempted to rob the Citibank at 5700 Connecticut Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. The subject entered the bank, approached the victim teller, and demanded money. The individual was last observed heading south.

The subject was described as being black, about 6’ tall and having a mustache and beard, the FBI said. He wore a gray skull cap, a black t-shirt with the word “BOSS” written across the chest in light-colored letters, and black pants.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of either suspect.

The FBI/Metropolitan Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force is investigating these robberies and requests that anyone with information call the FBI at 202-278-2000 or MPD’s tip line at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the police department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
