FBI: Suspect Robs DC Bank Tuesday After First Attempt Failed

WASHINGTON, DC -- The FBI says that a suspect robbed two banks in DC Tuesday -- apparently though, the man failed at his first attempt in the morning, so then went to another bank in the afternoon.

The first attempted robbery unfolded at 9 a.m., Tuesday, when an unknown male subject attempted to rob the PNC Bank located at 4100 S. Capitol Street SE (see map below) in Washington, D.C., according to the FBI. He entered the bank, approached the victim teller, and demanded money via note, the FBI said. He then fled the bank on foot.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., the same unknown male subject robbed the PNC Bank located at 2000 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE (see map below) in Washington, D.C., according to the FBI. He entered the bank, approached the victim teller, and demanded money via a note. He then fled the bank on foot.

Here’s a description of the suspect, provided by the FBI: The unknown subject wore his hair in shoulder-length dreads. In both robberies he wore thick-framed glasses, blue jeans, and black shoes. In the first robbery he wore a blue-and-gray North Face jacket. In the second robbery he wore a puffy black jacket. See more photos above; click to enlarge.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of this bank robber. The FBI/MPD Violent Crimes Task Force is investigating this robbery and requests that anyone with information call the FBI at 202-278-2000 or MPD’s tip line at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the police department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
