Former Diplomat with Clinton Ties Helping Trump Foe
DC chef Jose Andres cut ties with GOP presidential candidate after his remarks about immigrants.

A former Mexican diplomat with ties to a former Clinton White House chief of staff is helping raise legal funds for a foe of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Former diplomat Jorge Guajardo is helping D.C. chef Jose Andres, who pulled out of a Trump project after disagreeing with the presidential candidate’s remarks about Mexican immigrants. Trump said he plans to sue Andres for $10 million for backing out of the deal to open a restaurant at his DC hotel under construction.
Guajardo has set up a page on indiegogo: “Support Chef Jose Andres Against Trump Lawsuit,” asking people to donate funds to help defray legal costs for Andres.

In all, 82 people have donated close to $8,000 in the past 14 days for the legal fund. The funding goal is $100,000.
Guajardo is an associate at McLarty Associates. Thomas “Mack” McLarty III was a chief of staff to President Bill Clinton.

“I have known Jose Andres for over 25 years and I am doing this on a personal basis with absolutely no connection with Mr. McLarty or McLarty Associates,” Guajardo said.
