Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC Celebrates Fifteen Years of Giving Back to Washington's Public Servants During "Thanksgiving on the Mayflower"

Members of the hotel's staff will volunteer their time to serve more than 450 meals

For the fifteenth year, Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC will host Thanksgiving on the Mayflower, to give thanks and give back to those who serve our community. Hotel staff will dress in traditional pilgrim and Native American costumes to serve more than 300 Thanksgiving dinners and about 150 to-go meals to our beloved public servants working on Thanksgiving Day.

“We are very grateful to be able to take time to thank those who give their lives to Washington and its residents every day. The hotel is proud to continue the longstanding tradition of serving Thanksgiving meals to the brave service men and women dedicated to keeping our city safe,” said Dirk Burghartz, general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC.

Aboard a 53-foot Mayflower Truck, donated by Security Storage Company of Washington, Four Seasons Hotel staff will serve a traditional Thanksgiving buffet in front of the hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue. Amongst 300 pounds of turkey, 200 pounds of potatoes, 100 pounds of ham, 100 pounds of sweet potatoes, 100 pounds of stuffing, 80 pounds of roast beef, 40 gallons of cranberry sauce, 16 gallons of gravy, and 100 assorted pies Executive Chef Douglas Anderson and his culinary team are serving a special meal for our public servants with highlights such as butternut squash soup, country stuffing, and green bean casserole.

Police officers, fire fighters, emergency medical responders, hospital workers, park police and all other public servants working on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014 are invited from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving feast. To extend our gratitude and appreciation even further, public servants who join Four Seasons Hotel Washington on Thanksgiving Day will be entered into a raffle to win a gift certificate to Season’s award winning Sunday Brunch for two.

Chief Fred D. Morris from the Risk Management Division of Washington, D.C. Fire & EMS shared his gratitude by saying, “I certainly want to thank you all for your acts of kindness to me, and all of us here at DC Fire & EMS. Your hospitality is 1st Class. The type of kindness that you show us at the Four Seasons Hotel is deeply appreciated by us Emergency Responders every year during this holiday season”.
