Georgetown 2028 Looks to Georgetown's Future Growth, Status

A new strategic planning initiative will tackle the challenges facing Georgetown's future through thoughtful and rigorous discussion and community input.

The Georgetown Business Improvement District (BID) launched a new strategic planning initiative, Georgetown 2028, this week to create short-term and long-term plans to maintain and develop the status of the commercial district.

The process will include community meetings, working groups and a task force with the goal of creating a vision and action plan by November.

“The BID wants to ensure the health and vitality of Georgetown by studying and recommending ideas for the future, through collaboration with all community stakeholders," said Joe Sternlieb, CEO of the Georgetown BID. "We are very excited to bring forth some solid short-term and long-term ideas for implementation at the end of the Georgetown 2028 planning process later this year.”

Next week, the BID will host its first 2028 Community Engagement Meeting.  Community members are welcome to attend the meeting Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Foundry office building at 1055 Thomas Jefferson Street, NW, 5th floor. Another meeting will take place in September.
