Georgetown Bakery Supports Local Veterans, Deployed Soldiers
Veterans are in charge of all aspects of the bakery while completing the Dog Tag Fellowship program through Georgetown University.
GEORGETOWN, D.C. — Nestled in Georgetown sits Dog Tag Bakery, a cafe and bakery that hires wounded veterans and their spouses who complete the Dog Tag Fellowship program providing work experience and curriculum through the School of Continuing Studies at Georgetown University. During the day, the veterans are in charge of all aspects of the bakery located at 3206 Grace Street. They also spend time studying how to start their own small business.
Dog Tag Bakery also has partnered with two organizations to distribute gift boxes to deployed service members. The gift boxes are filled with treats from Dog Tag Bakery and coffee from Veteran Roasters. They can be donated through the bakery's online store.
