Georgetown Bridal Boutique Sews Masks For Hospital Staff

Carine's Bridal Atelier in Georgetown is sewing and delivering face masks to health care workers treating coronavirus patients.

GEORGETOWN, DC — Hospitals across the country are running dangerously low on face masks amid a growing coronavirus outbreak.

One Georgetown bridal boutique wants to fill that void.

Carine's Bridal Atelier, located at 1623 Wisconsin Ave., is sewing and delivering face masks to health care workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus battle. But to keep that momentum going, Carine's Bridal has created a GoFundMe page and is asking the community for help.

"It's not OK that our brave healthcare workers are putting themselves at risk while also facing a shortage of medical masks. While treating patients isn't our skill, sewing certainly is," Carine's Bridal wrote on its GoFundMe page.

According to the online fundraiser, Carine's Bridal is looking for donated dish clothes, cotton blend shirts, vacuum cleaner bags, 100 percent cotton shirts, and 3/8 elastic. All the items can be dropped off at the store's Georgetown, McLean, and Gaithersburg locations.
