Georgetown Business Improvement District: Donation Drive For Afghan Refugees

Donations will be collected at both The Berliner (3401 Water St NW) and the Popals' Afghan bistro Lapis.

The Popal Group, the DC restaurant company behind Georgetown’s The Berliner and Lutece, is organizing a donation drive to direct home goods, toiletries, and other supplies to refugees arriving in the DMV who are fleeing Afghanistan. Recommended items are listed here. Donations will be collected at both The Berliner (3401 Water St NW) and the Popals’ Afghan bistro Lapis (1847 Columbia Rd, in Adams Morgan) from 10 am – 5 pm on weekdays, now through Friday, August 27.

The cause is particularly close to the Popals’ hearts; Zubair and Shamim Popal left their home country with their young children when the Soviet-Afghan war began in 1980.
