The DC Council set aside $10 million in its 2022 budget to acquire land at 3607 M St NW – the former Exxon gas station across from the Key Bridge – that will be used for transit in Georgetown. Near-term, the site could be used as a charging station for electric vehicles, and possibly home to a terminal station for the proposed Georgetown-Rosslyn aerial gondola (think sky, not water) that would connect Georgetown to the Rosslyn metro. In the future, a Metro station is the goal. Stay tuned for more news on the site, as the plans progress!
