Georgetown Library to Reopen Oct. 18

Today the D.C. Public Library spokesman, George Williams, announced in a press release that the Georgetown Public Library on R Street will reopen Oct. 18. The Georgetown Interim Library, at 3307 M Street will close Saturday, Sept. 25. 

The renovated Georgetown Neighborhood Library, at 3260 R St., will boast restored woodwork throughout the building and a new third floor for the Peabody Room. Peabody will house a special collection of materials on the history of Georgetown.

Earlier today special collections librarian/archivist, Jerry McCoy, sent an email about the Georgetown Imprint Collection, which will be housed in the Peabody Room. The collection includes 82 books and pamphlets dating from 1792 to 1861. The pieces were physically printed in Georgetown.
