Georgetown Restaurant Bandolero Closes: Report

"We felt like it had a good run and we want to move on," owner tells Washington Post.

Put a fork in it: Bandolero, the Mexican restaurant with its Day of the Dead decor, is no more.

The Washington Post reports that the eatery on M Street is closing.

“It’s just like any other restaurant that comes to the end of its lease,” owner Jonathan Umbel tells the newspaper. “We felt like it had a good run and we want to move on.”

Posted to the restaurant’s Facebook page Monday afternoon: “Dear friends, neighbors, and customers Bandolero is officially closed today. We’d like to thank all of our loyal patrons who have come to Bando and supported us over the past few years! It has been an amazing three years serving everyone! Gracias por su apollo, hasta que nos encontremos de nuevo. Sigan comiendo TACOS y bebiendo TEQUILA”

The restaurant got its decor and menu during its three years from chef Mike Isabella, who is no longer with the restaurant.
