9 Georgetown Runners Compete in Boston Marathon; Conditions Unknown for Several
One of the nine runners from Georgetown told Patch she was not injured in explosions near the finish line. If you have updates, let us know.
There were two explosions near the finish line of the 117th Boston Marathon Monday afternoon around 3 p.m. Nine Georgetown runners were registered to run in the race.
More than 100 people were injured in the explosions and that three people are dead, reports Back Bay Patch.

There are nine Georgetown residents and a total of 171 DC residents who registered to run the 2013 Boston Marathon. It was not immediately clear whether any local runners were injured, but throughout the day word came through the many of them were safe.

The race shut down as soon as security became a concern. According to video of the explosion, it went off at about 4:09 on the race clock.

Marsha Ralls checked in with Patch. She said she is safe. Ralls said she was at mile 22 when the explosion happened; marathons are 26.2 miles long.
