Georgetown University Named Top 20 College in the United States

The annual U.S. News & World Report rankings especially praised the school for its business degrees.

WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. News & World Report has released its annual list of the best colleges and universities in the country, and Georgetown University has cracked the top 20. Georgetown came in at No. 20, tied with Emory University in Atlanta and the University of California, Berkeley.

The report gave Georgetown its highest marks in the "international business" category, where it placed No. 6. It was also rated the 10th best college in the high school counselor rankings, and 15th in business programs.

Schools are also ranked on other factors, such as campus safety and local amenities.

"Georgetown comprises several undergraduate, graduate and professional schools, including the highly ranked Robert Emmett McDonough School of Business, Law Center, School of Medicine, School of Nursing and Health Studies and McCourt School of Public Policy," the report states. "Georgetown’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service also offers well-regarded graduate programs. The neighborhood of Georgetown surrounding the university’s campus houses high-end shopping, restaurants and bars."

The report notes that tuition at the school costs $50,547 for the 2016-17 school year, as well as $15,568 for room and board. Total enrollment was 18,459.
