Georgetown's Business School Dean Steps Down After 5 Years
David Thomas had made significant improvements at the McDonough School of Business during his tenure, the university says.

McDonough School of Business Dean David Thomas is stepping down from his post after five years on the job later this summer.
Thomas' last day will be Aug. 1, after which he will "take a semester of leave for research before becoming a tenured professor in the MSB," a Georgetown University statement reads.
University President John J. DeGioia praised the outgoing dean, saying that he was "deeply grateful" for his leadership and that he wanted to "express my sincerest appreciation for his extraordinary efforts over the past five years."

Thomas was responsible for getting the MBA curriculum for the school revised in 2012, as well as launching the "Global Business Experience" elective for undergraduates. Since then, the full-time MBA program has jumped 35 percent in applications.
Thomas also created the Master of Science in finance degree, the first online program at MSB.

In terms of funding, the MSB exceeded its capital campaign goal by $30 million, enabling the endowment of 13 faculty position, the statement added.
Provost Robert Groves will appoint an interim dean, and DeGioia will put together a committee to find a permanent replacement.
