Gun Found in Student's Backpack at D.C. High School
No injuries were reported and there is no further threat to the school, officials said.

A gun was found in a student’s backpack at Wilson High School in Northwest D.C., according to school officials. Wilson High School principal Kimberly Martin said in a letter to parents that the gun has been surrendered to police and the student is being detained.
The gun was found around 1:15 p.m.
Martin said all students are safe and there is no immediate threat to the school.

“I want to assure you that the safety of all Wilson High School students is one of our top priorities, and we remain committed to ensuring that your students are safe. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this incident or safety and security at our school, please feel free to contact me. Thank you again for your cooperation and support,” the letter said.
