Jeff Miller: From Georgetown's Bee Guy to the Mayor's Real Estate Development Guy
Jeff Miller, a blogger for Georgetown Patch, is now the Director of Real Estate Development in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development.

Jeff Miller has recently made a name for himself as a "bee guy." His efforts to cultivate bee hives and encourage education of all things bees have earned him interviews with local media outlets, including WAMU, the Washington Examiner and, of course, a blogging position with Georgetown Patch.
This week, Miller received a different kind of attention: he was made director of Real Estate Development in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. Now we know why his blogging activity tapered off...
Miller has served as as chairman of the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District and was a strong supporter of Mayor Vincent Gray during his most recent election.

Miller founded Prospect Diversified in 2009 - a multi-family-property investment company - upon his exit from Trammel Crow, in October 2008. Prior to working with Trammel Crow, Miller spent a year and a half with Lowe Enterprises, after a five-year stint with JBG, from 2000 to 2005.

In his , Miller posed a question any reporter worth her salt might want to ask, "What transforms a real estate development executive into a sideline beekeeper?"
He admits that the "economy played a large role as development opportunities in Washington, DC dried up" but it was also his curious nature and interest in his own garden that eventually led him to the bees and the bees inspired him to blog.
Though Miller could not speak in any official capacity about this new role, he promised the bee blog would live on.
