Long Lines for Opening of Momofuku CityCenter Restaurant

Celebrated restaurant and sister bakery spot, Milk Bar, open to large crowds.

One of Northern Virginia’s favorite sons, world famous chef David Chang of Vienna, has opened a much-anticipated restaurant this weekend in DC’s new CityCenter.

Momofuku, which means ”lucky peach,” opened Saturday night in DC to long lines, on the heels of Chang’s just-as-hot bakery, Milk Bar, on Friday morning, also at CityCenter.

Momofuku CCDC’s menu includes fried chicken; Momofuku CCDC, at 1090 I St. NW, is the first Momofuku restaurant in Washington, D.C. It serves a roster of dishes that change with the seasons. Momofuku has a bar, noodle bar, main dining room and private dining room. A limited number of reservations will be available starting monday, while a majority of the tables are reserved for walk-ins.

Reservations started Monday online and by phone (202-602-1832). That includes the fried chicken and bo ssäm large formats. The majority of the room will still be available for walk ins, the restaurant says.


Milk Bar’s address is 1090 I St. NW. Hours are 7 a.m. to midnight. Popular menu items include “Crack Pie,” “Thanksgiving Croissant,” and “Cereal Milk Soft Serve.”

The openings weren’t overlooked by DC foodies. The Washington Post reported that the wait at Milk Bar at times was three hours long.
