Longtime Georgetown Italian Restaurant Files For Bankruptcy
A longtime, romantic Italian restaurant in Georgetown has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to reports.

GEORGETOWN, DC — Two DC restaurants — Ristorante Piccolo in Georgetown and its sister restaurant Catch 15 in downtown DC — have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Biz Journals reports.
The restaurants are owned by DC restaurateurs Karen and Tony Kowkabi. The petitions were filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for D.C. by the restaurant's parent companies, TK Restaurant Management Inc. and Rotini Inc., on May 5.
Ristorante Piccolo's filing lists an undisputed IRS debt for $358,442. The restaurant also owes $678,629 to the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue, but that claim is listed as disputed.

The beloved Italian restaurant, between N. Canal Street and Blues Alley, opened in 1986. It's known for its fresh and seasonal rustic Italian fare, with hand-rolled pastas, meats, fresh fish and seafood dishes. A violinist occasionally plays at dinnertime.
"Ristorante Piccolo is an award-winning romantic Italian restaurant with a history of being the perfect spot for first dates and marriage proposals, also offering one of the best seats in historic Georgetown--a second-floor balcony overlooking Georgetown and the historic C&O Canal," their website states.
