M Street Reopens After Emergency Crews Battle Fire in Georgetown

Firefighters battled a blaze in the 3100 block of M Street Wednesday morning, shutting down the roadway while they got the fire under control, according to the DC Fire Department. The call came in at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Fire trucks were parked up and down the busy thoroughfare Wednesday morning, according to photos posted to social media.

M Street has since reopened, according to a report by WTOP.

The fire broke out in the basement of the Steve Madden shoe store, according to the report by the radio station. WJLA-TV reports that the building also houses the Wink boutique and Ury salon and spa.
