GEORGETOWN, DC — Rothy's, the eco-conscious shoe brand that exploded in popularity — partially thanks to Meghan Markle — is coming to Georgetown.

The retailer is set to open a brick-and-mortar store at 3068 M St. NW this fall, according to Georgetown's Business Improvement District (BID).

Rothy's is a sustainable footwear brand that turns recycled, single-use plastics into comfortable flats and sneakers. Knit by machine and created by hand, these shoes are meant to be breathable and machine washable.

Fun fact: Meghan Markle is a fan of the Silicon Valley-based business, and has been photographed wearing the shoes.

"If these flats are good enough for Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex, they're good enough for us," Georgetown BID said.

It is unclear when Rothy's will open in Georgetown, but officials say it will be sometime in the fall. Rothy's will be replacing Alex and Ani, which is located near Ladurée and LUSH.

According to Rothy's website, this will be the brand's second U.S. store — with the first in San Fransisco.
