Metro Closures, Free Buses For Pride Weekend

WASHINGTON, DC — There are plenty of things to do and see in the D.C. area this weekend. Some attractions you'll find include: the Capital Pride Parade, Loudoun Book & Arts Festival, Classic Car Show, and DC Jazz Festival.

If you're thinking of taking the Metro on Saturday, June 8 or Sunday, June 9, you should plan accordingly: six Blue and Yellow Line train stations south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will be closed. The station closures, which will be in effect until Sept. 8, are part of a larger improvement project by WMATA.

Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the weekend:

From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Red Line trains will run every 6 to 7 minutes between Shady Grove and Silver Spring. Trains will operate every 12 to 15 minutes at all other times.

Silver Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule between Spring Hill and Largo Town Center. The Wiehle-Reston East station is closed. Therefore, buses will replace trains to and from the station.

Blue Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Largo Town Center. Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Franconia-Springfield.

Important Shuttle Bus Information:

• A Blue Line shuttle will travel between Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street, King Street-Old Town and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
• The shuttle will not stop at Braddock Road station
• Riders traveling to and from Braddock Road should use the Yellow Line shuttle
• Riders should anticipate 15 minutes of travel for each station stop
• A Franconia-Pentagon Express shuttle will run between Franconia-Springfield and Pentagon stations only
• Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street, King St-Old Town, and Braddock Road stations will be closed

Yellow Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Greenbelt. Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Crystal City and Huntington.

Important Shuttle Bus Information:

• A Yellow Line shuttle will travel between Huntington, Eisenhower Avenue, King Street-Old Town, Braddock Road, and Crystal City
• The shuttle will not stop at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
• Riders traveling to and from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport should use a Blue Line shuttle
• Riders should allot 15 minutes of travel time for each station stop
• A Huntington-Pentagon Express shuttle will run between Huntington and Pentagon stations only
• Huntington, Eisenhower Avenue, King Street-Old Town and Braddock Road stations will be closed

Orange and Green Line trains will run on a regular weekend schedule.
