WASHINGTON, DC — Despite the holidays and a partial government shutdown, Metro will be running on either a weekday or weekend schedule, according to WMATA officials. Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the holidays.
Monday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve)
- The Metro will close at 11:30 p.m.
- Metrorail and Metrobus will run on a regular weekday schedule
- MetroAccess subscription trips are cancelled
- Regular fares and parking fees are in effect
Tuesday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day)

- The Metro will open at 8 a.m. and close at 11 p.m.
- Metrorail and Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule
- MetroAccess subscription trips will be cancelled
- Off-peak fares will be in effect and parking will be free at all Metro facilities
Monday, Dec. 31 (New Year's Eve)
- The Metro will open at 5 a.m. with special late night service until 2 a.m. on New Year's Day
- Metrorail and Metrobus will run on a regular weekday schedule
- MetroAccess subscription trips will be cancelled
- Regular fares and parking fees will be in effect
Tuesday, Jan. 1 (New Year's Day)
