UPDATE: Metrobus to Suspend Service at 10 PM Monday

WASHINGTON, DC -- Metrobus will suspend service during the overnight hours--starting at 10 p.m. Monday--due to the potential for freezing rain and hazardous road conditions, the bus service reported Monday.

Metrobus has been operating today on a “severe” snow plan, which limits bus service to major roadways on 79 routes across the region. Ridership is already extremely light due to the Presidents Day holiday, and the number of customers affected after 10 p.m. is expected to be quite small.

Buses that are scheduled to depart their origin at or before 10 p.m. will operate to the end of the route before coming out of service. However, buses that are scheduled to start a new trip after 10 p.m. will not operate.

The Metrorail system will continue to run normally on all lines until its regular midnight closing time. Bus customers should consider Metrorail as an alternate travel option if possible.

Metro expects that bus service will be fully restored for the start of service Tuesday, as temperatures are predicted to rise well above freezing during the overnight hours.
