Mie N Yu Advances in Local Master Chef Semi-Final

The Georgetown restaurant is competing in the Mason Dixon Master Chef Tournament.

Georgetown's own is competing in the Mason Dixon Master Chef Tournament and has made it into the semi-final round of competition. The event started with 16 chefs, four remain.

Tuesday Chef R.L. Boyd beat out Chef Luis Echeverria of Newton’s Table in Bethesda, MD. Next Tuesday Boyd will take on Chef Chris Lewis from Iron Bridge Wine Company in Columbia.

Chefs have one hour to create an original appetizer, entrée, and dessert. In the semi-final round, "Battle of the Exotic," the main ingredient will be veal and special ingredients, "wild mushroom blend jarred in water, roasted yellow tomatoes in oil, chardonnay wine jelly jars, and roasted red piquillo peppers (from Peru)" according to the press release.

The Final Championship Match is Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Tickets are $35 for general admission $55 for judging experience, which allows  ticketholders to taste the chefs' creations.

Ten percent of net proceeds will go to Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, which delivers meals and other services to homebound individuals.
