NBC's Brian Williams to Return to the Air with Coverage of Pope in DC
Former Nightly News anchor will be providing live coverage of Pope Francis for MSNBC.

Former NBC “Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams will return to the airwaves Tuesday afternoon in his first stint back on the air, after a more than six-month suspension, to report on Pope Francis’ visit to the nation’s capital, USA Today and other news outlets are reporting.
The longtime anchor was suspended after he was faulted for stretching the truth about several news reports. NBC’s Lester Holt took over the “Nightly News” spot and was named permanent anchor. Williams will be reporting from MSNBC, an NBC cable TV news network.
Williams, 56, is expected to go on the air Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET; Pope Francis’ flight is expected to touch down at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland at 4 p.m. ET. President Obama is expected to meet the pope at the airfield.
