New 'Conflict-Free' Diamond Store To Open In Georgetown
Brilliant Earth will open in Cady's Alley this April.
GEORGETOWN, DC — A new store featuring conflict-free diamonds and other gems will open in Cady's Alley in Georgetown this April, according to reports.
Brilliant Earth will take up 2,500 square feet at 3332 Cady's Alley NW, Washington Business Journal reports. The store will be open Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The business focuses on cultivating a more human jewelry industry. They sell engagement and wedding rings that do not come at a "great human or environmental cost," according to the website. They also donate 5 percent of their profits to help communities who have suffered from unethical practices in the jewelry industry.

The Brilliant Earth team is "is a group of dedicated individuals – jewelry designers, sales associates, gemologists, and more – all working to provide exceptional jewelry that our customers can feel good about wearing," the website states.
The founders also recently funded a new primary school called Brilliant Mobile School in a rural diamond mining community in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This school brings education to children ages seven to 14 who have little or no formal education and may otherwise accompany their parents to the nearby Lungundi mine.
