PHOTOS: Let Freedom Ring Celebration at the Kennedy Center

Smokey Robinson and the Let Freedom Ring choir performed at the the annual Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration, a collaboration between Georgetown University and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Mary Brown, the co-founder and executive director of Life Pieces to Masterpieces,  is this year's recipient of the annual John Thompson Jr. “Legacy of a Dream” Award, given to an individual or organization that reflects the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. "life and spirit."

Brown's nonprofit supports young African American boys in DC's Wards 7 and 8.
