WASHINGTON DC -- As of about midnight Friday, the District of Columbia counted 5 to 7 inches of snow on the ground with more expected to fall through the night. Some are calling the blizzard “Snowzilla,” although we’re not sure that name is sticking.

Metro closed at 11 p.m. and is expected to stay closed through the weekend.

As of 3 a.m. Saturday, PEPCO reported no power outages in the District of Columbia.

DC Mayor Bowser is expected to hold a briefing Saturday to provide an update on the City’s response so far to the storm. Snow is expected to continue falling through the day Saturday. The Mayor’s Snow Response team are with City leaders around the clock monitoring the storm, the Mayor’s Office said.
