PHOTOS: Trees Toppled in DC by Severe Thunderstorms

Reagan National Airport clocked wind gusts of 51 MPH.

A couple of severe late-night thunderstorms rumbled through the region last night, downing trees in the District. WTOP reports that Reagan National Airport saw wind gusts of 51 MPH.

Multiple downed trees and traffic signal outages are hampering Wednesday morning traffic. Police remind drivers to treat intersections with signals that are out as four-way stops.

As of about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, only about 20 homes in the District were without power according to a Pepco outage map. Thousands of home in Northern Virginia are still without power in Northern Virginia.
