Police Investigate, Clear Suspicious Package Tuesday on K Street

Traffic was tied up due to road closures Tuesday afternoon while police investigated; one street remains closed.

DC Police investigated and cleared a suspicious package Tuesday afternoon on K Street in Washington, D.C. that tangled up traffic for a time, according to messages posted by police on social media.

The package was located at 17th Street NW and K Street NW. K Street was closed between 16th Street NW and Connecticut Avenue NW. Police first sent out messages about the package at about 3:15 p.m. Onlookers started sending out messages about a police presence shortly after 3 p.m.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units responded and cleared the package at about 3:24 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said at about 3:30 p.m. that 17th Street NW at L Street NW will remain closed for a time.
