Police Search For Missing Person In Potomac River Near Key Bridge
Police searched for a missing person in the water of the Potomac River near Key Bridge late Sunday night and into Monday morning.
GEORGETOWN, DC — DC Fire and EMS searched for a missing person in the Potomac River Sunday night. The incident turned into a recovery operation early Monday morning and was called off just a few hours later, police said.
At around 11:20 p.m., DC Fire and EMS announced they were searching for a reported missing person in the water under the Key Bridge.
DC Fire and EMS initially lead the search, but DC Police took over once the situation turned into a recovery operation early Monday morning.

The search was called off after 3 a.m. without a body recovered, police said.
A police report shows that a resident who lives on Water Street, NW saw a person in the river and called 911. The resident said he heard loud moaning coming from the deck and allegedly saw a man sitting on the deck flailing his arms.

The neighbor went to get his phone and returned to see what he said was a head in the water about five feet from the deck, the police report states.
The resident ran down to the deck and didn't see anything in the water, but did see a wet spot on the deck where the man was sitting.
Officials searched the shoreline and river during the operation along the north bank from Aqueduct Bridge to Georgetown Waterfront.
