President Obama Attened Fundraiser in Georgetown Thursday

President Obama's presence at a fundraiser in Georgetown Thursday did not go unnoticed by neighbors. While attending a gathering at the home of former ambassador Elizabeth Frawley Bagley, streets in the East Village were blocked to traffic and a helicopter circled over head.

Attendees paid $35,800-per-couple for an intimate campaign event with the president, according to The Washington Post. Of that $5,000 will go to the Obama campaign and the remainder to the Democratic National Committee.

Not everyone was so thrilled with the president's visit. Ronda Bernstein who lives near the Bagley house, wrote on the Georgetown forum, "the upper-East Village is completely shut down between P and R, 28 to 30 and a helicopter flying overhead."

She added, "...it is UNACCEPTABLE for them to close off the sidewalks to those of us who live here and need to get home because the President is being entertained."

For Obama the event was meant to reassure worried and anxious supporters about his reelection chances. “The odds of me being re-elected are much higher than the odds of me being elected in the first place,” he said, according to The Washington Post.
