President's Day Weather: DC Under Winter Weather Advisory

WASHINGTON, DC -- The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory Sunday afternoon for Washington DC that goes into effect Monday at 1 a.m. and continues through Tuesday at 10 a.m.
The weather service says to expect snow, sleet and freezing rain, which an accumulation of 3-5 inches of snow and sleet. Around one-tenth of an inch of ice is expected on roads from freezing rain, the NWS warns.
Snow is expected to begin between 1-3 a.m. Monday with snow changing to sleet and freezing rain Monday afternoon.

Precipitation will gradually change to rain late Monday into Tuesday morning.
Temperatures are expected to be in the teens Sunday night, rising into the upper 20s to lower 30s Monday into Monday night. Temperatures will rise into the mid and upper 40s Tuesday, the NWs reports.

Snow and ice will cause slipper roads and travel will be difficult, according to the weather service.
