GEORGETOWN, DC — Starting June 10, 31st Street NW — between M Street and K Street NW — will be closed to through vehicular traffic, so construction crews can replace the 31st Bridge in Georgetown.

According to the District Department of Transportation, the structurally deficient bridge — which spans the C & O Canal — is supported on stone masonry abutment walls and an 1867 cast iron, multi-column pier. In order for crews to replace the bridge, only local traffic, deliveries, pedestrian, and bike traffic will be permitted.

Parking will also be affected by the construction.
