Safeway, Redskins Launch Kick Hunger Campaign With Scavenger Hunt
Safeway and the Washington Redskins are teaming up for the supermarket's second annual Kick Hunger campaign in Georgetown on March 13.
From the Safeway Foundation: Safeway will present a fun, food-filled scavenger hunt to promote Safeway Foundation’s 2nd Annual KICK HUNGER fundraising campaign to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) at the Georgetown Safeway – 1855 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, March 13, at 1:30 p.m.
On hand will be Vernon Davis, Washington Redskins tight end, Redskins cheerleader Whitney Adrianna Hopkins and Kidd O’Shea from WJLA-TV. Race official will be Dan McCabe from the Capital Area Food Bank.
Vernon Davis will compete against Adriana Hopkins and Kidd O’Shea, in a supermarket scavenger hunt, filling their shopping baskets with food bank wish list items. The competition’s winner will receive a trophy, and Capital Area Food Bank will receive the food collected in both baskets.

Safeway and Safeway Foundation, continuing their tradition of advocacy surrounding the issue of hunger in the communities they serve, are presenting the Safeway Foundation KICK HUNGER fundraising campaign, to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank and the Maryland Food Bank. Throughout the month of March, Safeway stores in D.C., Maryland and Virginia will collect customer donations at checkout.
The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems. By partnering with 444 community organizations in DC, Maryland and Virginia, as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas, the CAFB is helping nearly half-a-million people each year get access to good, healthy food. Safeway is the official supermarket of the Washington Redskins.
