Sexual Predator May Have Struck Again in Georgetown

A woman was groped on 33rd Street on Wednesday night, and police are looking for the suspect.

WASHINGTON, DC — Has a serial sexual predator struck again in Georgetown? The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a new report that a man came up behind a woman and groped her on 33rd Street, a month after police issued a statement indicating that a series of sexual offenses in the area may be related.

Police say that at around 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 26 in the 1600 block of 33rd Street NW, the victim was walking when "an unknown suspect came up behind her and groped her," the report states.

The man than fled south on 33rd Street and then headed west toward the 3300 block of Dent Street. He is described as a white male between the ages of 20 and 30 years of age, is 5 feet 10 inches tall, has an average build and was unshaven with some facial hair. He was wearing a gray hoodie with black stripes and running shoes at the time of the incident.

Police issued a statement in September on a series of sexual assaults in the area.

The first incident happened just after 1 a.m. on Aug. 3 in the 1600 block of 35th Street NW, when a suspect armed with a knife grabbed a woman and tried to sexually assault her, according to a report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police description: "The suspect was described as a black male, 5’9’’to 5’11’’ in height, with a slim build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and gym type shorts. He was armed with a knife."

Three weeks later, on Aug. 23 at around 10 p.m., a suspect grabbed a woman near the intersection of 37th and T Street NW, according to the report.

Police description: "The suspect was described as a possible Hispanic male in his early twenties, 5’6’’ in height. He was wearing a light colored t-shirt, dark basketball style shorts, and a dark colored mask."

A third incident happened Sept. 5 at around 10:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Potomac Avenue NW. In that incident, a man approached a woman from behind and groped her.

Police description: "The suspect was described as an unknown male, 6’1’’ in height. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark pants."

The final incident was on Monday, Sept. 12 at around 10:40 pm. in the 1300 block of 35th Street NW. A man approached a woman from behind and groped her while exposing himself, police said. The suspect also exposed himself to another victim before fleeing.

Police description: "The suspect was described as a possible Hispanic male in his twenties, 5’6’’ in height. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and dark gym shorts."

The report adds: "Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. Crime Solvers of Washington, DC currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for an assault committed in the District of Columbia."
