Singer Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor Assault in DC
Singer avoids more jail time; sentenced to time served.

Grammy-winning pop singer Chris Brown, 25, pleaded guilty in DC Tuesday to hitting a man last fall outside of a DC hotel, according to several news reports. The incident took place while he was on probation for assaulting singer Rihanna, his then-girlfriend. That assault took place in 2009, just before the Grammy’s telecast.
On Tuesday morning, Brown told the judge: “I would like to say to the court, I’m sorry,” according to The Washington Post.
Brown pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to a charge of misdemeanor charge of simple assault at a hearing in DC Superior Court , The Post reported. He was sentenced to time served. Brown spent two days in a D.C. jail, CBS reported. Brown served more than two months in jail in Los Angeles for violating his probation and also took part in a three-month court-ordered rehab program which counted toward time served, the Los Angeles Times reported. He didn’t spent as much time behind bars in L.A. due to overcrowding, the newspaper reported.

Prosecutors said the singer and bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, 36, struck a fan who was trying to get into a photo with Brown. The fan, Parker Adams, in his 20s, of Beltsville, Md., was reportedly hit in the face Oct. 27 outside the W Hotel.
“As Chris Brown has now finally acknowledged, he punched a man in the face without provocation,” U.S. Atty. Ronald C. Machen Jr. said in a statement. “No matter your status or celebrity, you will be held accountable for such conduct in our city.”
